Kitchen fire causes $300-500 in damages
11/09/2008
Palmyra, NY - East Palmyra and Port Gibson fire departments and Palmyra Ambulance Service responded at approximately 2:30 p.m. Friday to a kitchen fire at 4047 Lusk Road in East Palmyra.

The fire was started when a pan that owner Ronald Martin was cooking with caught on fire, said John Rush, first assistant to the chief of the East Palmyra Fire Department. Martin moved the pan to the sink, and the flames shot up onto the walls above it. He then used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames until assistance arrived, Rush said.

Damage was sustained to the surface of the walls, shelves, window sill and trimming around the sink. Rush estimated the damages at $300 to $500.
